I am about to write a scene describing an encounter between Noctiferus and one of his pawns, and I am oh so very nervous. Indeed, this will be the first scene where the novel’s main foe interacts with others as such, and it scares me, wondering whether I will be able to give it the momentousness that it deserves. This weekend, this is my challenge.
LADP.
Update on the writing of the scene: The scene is actually a proper chapter now, and I gave it a title straight away, to help me imagine it. I called it “When a God Calls.” I must admit that the first few lines were difficult to write indeed; I tapped my hands nervously on the keyboard for a while, until I understood that I needed to write from Lusk’s perspective. This helped
me tremendously because I know Lusk, and I know him quite well by now; I know what scares him and what motivates him, and by writing from his perspective, I can create the scene that I need, a frightful scene, a momentous scene, much more easily because I have felt fear and I have felt small.
