This morning, when I woke up–or was it just before I woke up?–a thought came to me. It said, “Boy, you might disappoint a lot of people this year.” Why did that unpleasant thought pop into my mind? Because although I wanted to publish Eruption first by December of 2019, then by March, and then by June, I am now finding that it will likely take me even longer to finish the editing of Book 2.

It upsets me because I made a promise, and because who would want to wait 2.5 years or 3 years before the next book in a series? Of course, I have waited at least two years, myself, for books from authors whose series I love, such as Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archives or before him, Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time. And everyone is still waiting for Patrick Rothfuss’s next book from his remarkable Kingkiller Chronicles, the last of which was published in 2011. But Sanderson also has other series I can begin, as well as standalone books I can read. Rothfuss has a number of shorts and novellas. In my case, I have Forebodings, and the Ronin shorts (3 to date), which I publish every 4-6 months.

So,  I want to thank all of you who–from the US, the UK, Canada, or Australia–follow me on FB and perhaps check out my website once in a while in the hopes of seeing an announcement for the launch of Eruption. I want to thank you for your patience and for peaking in once in a while.

I do not know when Eruption will come out, but it will. It is written and it’s only a matter of completing the necessary revisions and proofreading, now. But, if a certain devil pushes me to it, the one that makes people take brash decisions, I might very well start releasing the completed chapters electronically–for free. However, before I give in to this devil, I might poll you first. So, keep an eye out for such a poll.

LADP.
